Najera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada
Left the Alburgue and went to the local cafe for coffee (expresso), croissant and the running of the bulls (which starts at 8:00 am). Walked 14 miles through vineyards and barley fields. Went through the villages of Azofra and Cirinuela. Cirinuela appeared to be a development that was built before the recession and now appears to be almost vacant ( I have posted some pictures). They did have a nice golf course which made me wish I had my golf clubs. We got into Santo Domingo de la Calzada about 2 pm. Ben and I slept for an hour or so and then went to explore the city. Small but very nice. The main attraction is the Cathedral of Santa Domingo. Very unusual story about a lynching and cocks and hens (too hard to explain...look it up). They still have live cocks and hens next to the crypt. Walked up the tower and viewed the city. We met Stevie and Conner from Ireland and had drinks and dinner. Off to Belorado tomorrow. Another 14 miles!

Have to tell the guys from the golf group about the course in the middle of wine country. Read the story of Hugonell and the birds, strange indeed. Sounds like you guys are having fun. Keep on trekkin...
