Paris to Zubiri Spain
Sorry for not posting for a while. Things were hectic and Wi-Fi is hard to get. We missed the plane to Biarritz from Paris. Did not get into St. Jean Pied de Port (France) until almost 11:00 pm. We were up at 5:30 to start the hike. We stopped for a quick French breakfast which consists of coffee, juice and bread (with jam). We climbed almost 3,000 ft and arrived at Alburgue Orrison in the Pyrenees. Many people try to make it all the way to Roncesvalles (Spain) the first day. I planned to stay in Orrison and thank God we did. What a brutal climb. The Alburgue hold about 16 people and we made friends with all of the ones who spoke English. The next day was another ascent of about 3,000 feet but was not as the 1st day (more gradual ascent. The views were spectacular. We arrived in Roncesvalles at about 1:00. The Alburgue is an ancient Monastery. We left Roncesvalles this morning in the driving rain and walked about 13 miles to where we are tonight....Zubiri Spain. Very few pictures from today's hike since Ben did not want to get his camera wet.
